ABOUT HuUS vom VALAIS

Huus Vom Valais is a partnership built around a shared appreciation for well-raised livestock and the work that goes into building a strong breeding program. The program brings together Webb Cattle Company in North Missouri and Herbaria Highlands, two farms that have spent years raising animals and learning what it takes to develop a flock that improves with time.
Both farms started with a simple goal. Raise animals the right way, pay attention to how they develop, and build programs that reflect patience and consistency rather than shortcuts. That mindset now carries into the Valais Blacknose sheep program.
Valais sheep caught our attention the way they catch most people’s attention. They are hard to miss in the pasture. Their fleece, markings, and personality make them stand out immediately. What kept our interest, though, was the opportunity to raise a flock that could continue improving each season.
Our goal is to build a flock that reflects the best qualities of the breed. Sheep with good structure, strong fleece, calm temperaments, and the kind of presence that makes people stop when they walk past the pasture. Every lamb born here represents the direction of the flock. That means paying attention to how animals grow, how they mature, and how the flock develops over time. Good sheep are not built in one season. A strong flock comes from years of observation, thoughtful breeding decisions, and day to day care. Our sheep spend their days on pasture and are raised in the middle of normal farm life. Lambs grow up around people and regular handling, which helps them become calm, manageable animals as they mature. We believe that time spent around the animals matters just as much as any breeding plan on paper.
We also believe in being open with buyers about how our animals are raised and how the flock is managed. Anyone interested in a lamb is always welcome to ask questions about the program, the parents, or how the animals are cared for here. For us, raising Valais Blacknose sheep is not just about producing lambs. It is about building a flock that we are proud to walk out and see every day, and sharing those animals with other farms that appreciate them just as much.
If you would like to learn more about the sheep or upcoming lambs, we would be happy to hear from you.
